FUBar Community standards

The following needs to be read with a certain amount of common sense.  We could have drafted it to cover every eventuality, but decided that that would be too tedious.  Basically, the message is ‘don’t be an arse’.

Those taking part in the forum must adhere to the following guidelines:

The most serious bit:

The namby pamby cuddly bit: Please respect other people's views and beliefs and consider your impact on others when making your contribution – the flip side of this is please, if you feel offended, try and maintain a reasonable tone, (even in unreasonable circumstances) and report the issue to the moderators if necessary.

The longer bit:

  1. We welcome debate and dissent, but persistent trolling and mindless abuse of other individuals will not be tolerated.
  2. We understand that people often feel strongly about issues, but will consider removing any content that others might find extremely offensive or threatening. While we don't want to stop people discussing topics they are enthusiastic about, we do reserve the right to curtail conversations which descend into flame-wars.
  3. We will not tolerate racism, sexism, homophobia or other forms of hate-speech, or contributions that could be interpreted as such, and reserve the right to remove content that may put us in legal jeopardy, such as potentially libellous or defamatory postings.
  4. We will remove posts that are obviously commercial or otherwise spam-like. This may also apply to people or organisations who frequently post propaganda or external links without adding substantively to the quality of the forum discussion.
  5. The conversation belongs to everybody. Notify us of potential problems and help each other to keep conversations inviting and appropriate. If you spot something problematic on the forum, please report it to us.

In short: - If you act with maturity and consideration for other users, you should have no problems. - Don't be unpleasant.  Please be aware that moderators may contact you by email in relation to your participation where an issue comes up.

We reserve the right to take steps or implement measures which we believe will benefit the whole community. Because we are ultimately responsible for everything which appears on this site, all actions and decisions taken by our moderators are final.

If you have suggestions or questions about any aspect of community participation on the forum, you can contact the mods using this form:
